KILN-FORMED GLASS
THE ARTIST
Aysen Czurgel
I wish I could say that I studied design or art but instead I studied genetics, working many years in the biotechnology field. I always felt a "creative fire" burning in my heart, trying many different creative materials; painting, felting, pottery, everything but glass.
I used to think glass paints the third dimension.
More or less by chance, in 2014 I started a class in kiln-formed glass. And that's it. I became a glass addict. The interaction of glass and temperature is exciting. I realized the third dimension in glassworks is the light.
I combine various techniques and multiple firings in the kiln, which makes each piece a one of a kind. And my work is inspired by everything what make our life beautiful and worth living.
